Color Palette

{Urban Outfitters sweater, Madewell silk button-down and necklace, J. Crew pants and shoes, Michael Kors watch}
As I was putting together this outfit, I got just a tad excited about the fact that my shoes and pants are almost exactly the same color. Then I thought about my favorite statement necklace, also in the same color family, and I just couldn't resist putting that on as well. I needed to balance the matchy-ness of those three pieces, so I went with a neutral shirt and sweater.

As much as I love these sandals, I have to admit, I'm slightly annoyed that it is now November and it's still too hot to wear boots here in LA. Fall, come a little faster, will you?

Casual Friday

{Madewell jeans, sweater, and loafers, Uniqlo shirt, Michael Kors watch}
Wore this outfit to campus on Friday.

I'm currently having a major obsession with button-downs. I absolutely adore how chic they are, and how surprisingly versatile they can be. I've been experimenting with wearing them oversized and untucked, as well as with sweater combinations like this. The button-down is definitely my new staple for fall.

Meet my new loafers. I bought them in New York last weekend. To say I am in love is an understatement. If I could, I would wear them every single day... with a button down. I think it's safe to say my favorite look this fall is a little bit androgynous.

How was your weekend?

Role Model

As I mentioned in my last post, I was lucky enough to attend a J. Crew event last week in celebration of the Fall 2011 collection. Here's one of my favorite looks from this season. I would be in heaven if I could take that coat abroad with me.

I had the opportunity to meet Tom Mora, head of women's design for J. Crew. He was so nice in person, and I completely geeked out, chatting with him about the evolution of the brand, as well as my adoration for Jenna Lyons.

I've been in New York for the past few days, and have had such a lovely time. It's been so nice to get out of L.A. and enjoy the almost-chilly weather (and of course the amazing shopping) on the east coast. Can't wait to debut a few new purchases here! Hope you're all having delightful weekends.

Shamelessly J. Crew

{J. Crew jacket (on sale!), shirt, necklace, and shoes, J. Crew Factory skirt, Trina Turk purse, Urban Outfitters watch, David Yurman ring, gifted earrings}
Last week, I attended a J. Crew event celebrating the brand's Fall 2011 collection. I was thrilled to have an opportunity to wear head-to-toe J. Crew with no shame whatsoever.

At the event, I had the chance to meet Tom Mora, head of women's design for J. Crew. I was starstruck, to say the least.

How was your weekend? I had one of my best friends in town, and we did some major shopping damage--my favorite buys were a fair isle sweater and a new pair of boots (so ready for fall!).

Rainy Day

{J. Crew jacket, sweater, and shirt, Madewell jeans, Sam Edleman boots, Target umbrella}
When any amount of rain hits Los Angeles, widespread panic ensues. Instead of avoiding the downpour,  I used the opportunity to break out my first official fall outfit.

So excited for fall layering.
Sorry for the poor photo quality! It's quite a doozy taking pictures in the rain.

Formulaic

{J. Crew shirt and shoes (on sale!), Adam Lippes skirt, target sunglasses gifted pearl earrings and necklace, gifted ring and bracelet, Michael Kors watch}
This skirt is one of my closet staples. I feel positively ladylike in it, and it's perfect for dressy yet conservative occassions. I wore this outfit for an in-class presentation (public speaking- my greatest fear!) that required business casual dress.

I've duplicated this look several times here on the blog, mostly because it's so easy to recreate. When I'm in a pinch and need a professional yet pretty outfit, my formula is pretty simple:
button down + high-waisted skirt + heels + necklace

These shoes have quickly become a go-to of mine. I love the detailing, and they are so versatile. I highly recommend them (and they're on sale!).

In other news, my first column for CBS Los Angeles is live. I picked my favorite vintage and thrift spots in Los Angeles- check it out here!
