The closer it gets to summer, the more fun I feel like having with my clothes.

Something Borrowed

{J. Crew chinos, Urban Outfitters via the boyfriend, LF shirt, Jessica Simpson shoes, Michael Kors watch, Dogeared necklace}
On lazy Sunday afternoons, it feels almost criminal to wear anything that isn't sublimely comfortable. But when going out for brunch, I also like to avoid looking like a total slob (although my desire to eat my body weight in pacakes may indicate otherwise...). This outfit, for me, is a nice compromise.
Before I left the house, I had on a different shawl-collared sweater similar to this one, but as I was leaving my room I saw that my boyfriend had left this cardigan in my room. I opted to borrow his because it has a lot more visual interest than my plain navy one, and it's very slouchy on me--perfect for the cozy vibe I was feeling.

Lady in Gray

{images via Fashion Gone Rogue}
Michelle Williams is one of my favorite leading ladies, and she's a constant source of fashion and beauty inspiration (if only I could rock that hair!). Since I've been watching Brokeback Mountain on repeat for a term paper, I've been seeing a lot of her lately. I love these cool, monochromatic photos, especially because it seems like lately all I've seen on blogs and editorials are pastels, brights, and neons.

Neutral

{Zara blazer, J. Crew shirt, Adam Lippes via Neiman Marcus skirt, Anthropologie Shoes, Urban Expressions clutch, Michael Kors watch, Dogeared necklace, gifted pearl earrings, Jane Hollinger bracelet}
Decided to get a little dressed up for a late lunch out this past weekend.

I've been wearing this lipstick nonstop lately. It looks pretty heavy in this photo, but what I love about it is that it's gorgeously sheer. Red lipstick is my absolute favorite makeup item, but it can be hard to wear during the day because it's so high-maintenance. This lipstick is the ultimate solution! I love the orangey-red color of it, and the fact that it's completely layerable, so you can decide how saturated you want to go.

Wearing neutral-colored pieces together, in my opinion, is a foolproof way to look chic.

Power Suit

Are you tired of this blazer yet? I've been wearing it so much lately (here, here, here, and here). With its perfect fit, crisp navy, and fun striped lining, it's such an easy way to add polish to any look.

{J. Crew blazer and flats, American Apparel tee, Zara trousers, Michael Kors watch, vintage necklace, Dogeared wishbone necklace, gifted pearl earrings}
I had a presentation for my marketing class that required business-casual dress, and this is my go-to power outfit for any type of professional situation. I wore a modified version of this exact suit for another event several months ago as well. Something about the matching navy, simple tee, and neutral accessories makes me feel super confident. The outfit is also really low-maintenance, which is always important when you know you don't want to be fidgeting in front of people.

The One and Only

Last night I had the opportunity to meet the one and only Scott Schuman, aka The Sartorialist, when he came to speak to students at USC. I could not have been more thrilled to see him, as his blog is a constant source of inspiration for me (and every other blogger/fashion enthusiast in this world). The Sartorialist's work is absolutely unparalleled--no other street style photographer manages to capture the personality of his subjects in such a beautiful, honest way. His lovely partner, Garance Dore, was also there, and met with students and fans after Mr. Schuman spoke...her photos are so sublime.
An evening to remember!

Bohemian

I happened to come across H&M's Spring 2011 lookbook after having just written a column for College Fashionista about bohemian style. Loving these looks.
(want that dress...bad)
